Heat Shrinkable Termination Kits (Outdoors) Three Core

Code: N/A

Heat Shrinkable Termination Kits (Outdoors) – Three Core by Axis provide reliable, flexible solutions for LV and MV cable networks. These kits are built to withstand extreme weather, UV exposure, and pollution while effectively preventing partial and surface corona discharge. All components are pre-expanded and shrink tightly when heat is applied, ensuring secure and long-lasting performance in tough conditions.

Description

Axis Heat Shrinkable Termination Kits (Outdoor) -Three Core are built to perform reliably in exposed and demanding outdoor conditions. Designed for three-core, armoured or sheathed medium voltage (MV) cables, these kits handle operating voltages up to 33 kV with consistent efficiency.

Outdoor environments present challenges such as UV radiation, high moisture, temperature fluctuations, and airborne pollutants. To address these, Axis equips the kits with tough, weather-resistant heat shrink components. When heat is applied, these materials shrink to form a secure bond with the cable surface, creating a moisture-tight seal that defends the termination against external contaminants.

Flexible stress control tubing ensures proper voltage distribution and mitigates electrical stress at the cable ends. High-grade anti-tracking insulation prevents flashovers and surface discharges, ensuring continued safety under high humidity or polluted conditions. An adhesive-lined breakout effectively seals the crutch area, keeping out dust and water. Installers can also use optional solderless grounding lugs to streamline the earthing process without sacrificing reliability.

These kits work seamlessly with XLPE-insulated cables and support both removable and strippable semi-conductive layers. This versatility allows for quick adaptation across different outdoor cable configurations found in power distribution, substations, and industrial systems.

Engineers trust Axis kits for their exceptional durability. The components resist corrosion, mechanical impact, and long-term weather exposure, providing robust and low-maintenance protection for critical MV infrastructure.

Features
Features:
  1. Electrical Stress Relief

A yellow mastic layer is applied around the screen cut, and a stress control tube is used to evenly distribute the electrical field. This helps prevent stress buildup at the cable end.

  2. Strong Anti-Tracking Resistance

The insulation tubes and rain sheds are made from anti-tracking materials that resist erosion and surface discharge, ensuring stable performance even in tough conditions.

  3. Increased Creepage Distance

The specially shaped rain sheds extend the surface path of insulation, improving creepage distance and reducing the risk of surface faults.

  4. Reliable Moisture Protection

Hot-melt adhesive inside both the sealing tube and insulation tube forms a tight seal that keeps moisture out, helping the cable perform reliably in wet or outdoor environments.

  5. Secure Earthing Solutions

The kits support both soldered and non-soldered earth connections. For cables with wire screens, embedded copper wires in the mastic provide a moisture-tight and corrosion-resistant ground connection.

  6. UV and Weather Resistant

All materials are built to withstand outdoor exposure, including sunlight, rain, and pollution, making them ideal for open-air installations.

  7. Tough Mechanical Protection

The heat shrinkable parts are durable and can resist wear from vibration, abrasion, and handling, keeping the cables well-protected during and after installation.

  8. Easy to Install

Each component is designed to shrink and fit snugly with heat, allowing for quick and easy installation without the need for extra tools or complicated steps.

  9. Wide Cable Compatibility
These kits are suitable for a variety of polymeric-insulated cables, including XLPE types, and support different types of semi-conductive layers, whether they are peelable, strippable, or graphite-coated.
