Description

Axis Outdoor Single-Core Termination Kits deliver reliable performance in demanding outdoor environments where cable protection is critical. Designed for medium voltage (MV) applications up to 33kV, these kits support single-core, sheathed, or armored cables commonly used in substations, feeders, and outdoor installations.

Each kit features weather-resistant heat shrink components that activate with heat to form a tight, secure seal. This design blocks moisture, UV radiation, and environmental contaminants from compromising cable integrity. By preventing external ingress, the kits ensure stable electrical performance over the long term—even under harsh and variable weather conditions.

To enhance electrical safety, the kits incorporate stress control elements that actively regulate voltage distribution at the termination point. High-performance anti-tracking insulation materials minimize the risk of surface discharges. An adhesive-lined breakout seals the cable crutch effectively, protecting it from dust and water.

Installers can use optional solderless grounding kits to simplify the earthing process while improving reliability and corrosion resistance. The kits work seamlessly with XLPE-insulated cables and accommodate both strippable and removable semi-conductive layers, allowing easy adaptation to various cable designs.

Engineers trust these kits for their durability in the face of corrosion, mechanical stress, and extreme weather. With minimal maintenance requirements and proven performance in the field, Axis Outdoor Single-Core Termination Kits provide a robust and dependable solution for MV cable terminations in the most challenging outdoor conditions.

Features

The kits feature flexible stress control elements, providing reliable stress management under all operating conditions.

Features:

  1. Stress Control for Cable Ends

A layer of yellow stress relief mastic is applied around the screen cut area. This, along with the stress control tubing, redistributes electrical stress, preventing concentration at the cut point and ensuring smooth electric field dissipation.

  2. Exceptional Anti-Tracking Capability

The insulation tubes and rain sheds are made from high-performance anti-tracking materials. These components resist surface discharge and erosion, offering reliable protection under high humidity and contamination conditions.

  3. Extended Surface Creepage

The specially designed rain sheds increase the effective creepage distance along the cable surface. This reduces the risk of flashovers and enhances safety in polluted or damp environments.

  4. Sealing Against Moisture

A secure seal is formed using hot-melt adhesive inside the sealing and insulation tubes. This adhesive ensures long-lasting protection by preventing moisture ingress, critical for outdoor and underground installations.

  5. Flexible Earthing Options

Both solder and solderless grounding techniques are supported. For wire-screened cables, copper conductors embedded within the mastic provide corrosion resistance while maintaining an effective moisture barrier.

  6. Resistance to Harsh Outdoor Conditions

Designed for outdoor use, all components are UV-stabilized and weather-resistant. They perform reliably when exposed to sunlight, rain, dust, and industrial pollution.

  7. High Mechanical Endurance

The heat shrinkable materials are tough and durable. They resist mechanical stresses such as vibration, bending, and abrasion, ensuring cable protection throughout their lifecycle.

  8. Simplified Installation Process

All components are pre-engineered to shrink uniformly when heated, allowing for easy and efficient installation. No special tools or complex procedures are required.

  9. Compatible with a Wide Range of Cables

These kits support various types of polymeric-insulated cables, including XLPE. They are suitable for use with different types of semi-conductive layers, whether removable, peelable, or graphite-coated.
