Ground Rod Connectors are used to join two or more ground rods together.
Ground rods are typically made to be extendable because the length of the ground rod is a factor in its effectiveness as a grounding conductor. In general, longer ground rods are able to dissipate electrical current more effectively than shorter ground rods.
Using ground rod connectors allows for flexibility in the length of the grounding conductor, as the length can be adjusted by adding or removing ground rods as needed. Axis provides two types of Ground Rod Connectors
- Threaded Couplers: These couplers consist of a metal sleeve with threads on both ends, which allows the coupler to be screwed onto the ends of two ground rods. The coupler provides a secure mechanical connection between the ground rods, as well as an electrical connection through which electrical current can flow.
- Push-fit Couplers: These couplers consist of a plain metal sleeve. The ground rods are hammered into each end of the coupler providing a secure mechanical connection.
